EK1 Product Overview
The EK1 has a big heart in a small package. It is super responsive, smooth, stylish, fun to ride and impressively frugal.
The EK1 is the younger sibling of the EK3. The two eye-catchers are largely identical in appearance and dimensions. The big differences: While the EK3 has an electric motor mounted in the frame, the EK1 is equipped with a wheel hub engine. The peak power is 2.8 kW, and the top speed is limited to 50 kph, and so it classifies as a moped, which means it can be ridden on a car licence.
With a strong, clean and powerful little motor the EK1 is smoother (and quieter) than any petrol scooter; the EK1 is plucky. It's like it has been designed for Aotearoa New Zealand.
With a class leading battery – bigger means more range and more freedom – the EK1 will get up to 80 kilometres on a single charge.
Highlights of the EK1 equipment: all-round LED lights, automatic light switch-off delay (to help you see after you have parked), cruise control, reverse gear, helmet storage compartment under the seat, disk brakes, bag holder, USB charge port in its handy cubby and ergonomic design.
The EK1 also comes in a choice of upbeat colours orange and medium blue as well as matt black and pearl gloss white.

Powerful Motor
The HORWIN EK1 is equipped with a high performance hub motor of 2kW (and 2.8kW peak) The motor has high energy exchange efficiency with low power consumption. It has plenty of power for a small scooter, so you can zip around in comfort and style. You can take confidence that it will take New Zealand city life in its stride.
Bigger Battery for More Adventures
HORWIN EK1 and EK3 are equipped with a removable 72V high voltage intelligent lithium battery. With 36Ah volume, the range is around 80km (in Comfort Mode). This is a bigger standard battery than every competitor, giving you a greater range., and more freedom.
The SOC monitoring system and modern battery management system BMS can effectively reduce failures and provide multiple protection.
The 10A intelligent charger (supplied) can be used to charge batteries on or off the bike. Removing the battery is as simple. Just unplug a cable and lift-out.
The battery life is over 1000 cycles (a full discharge and charge) which means for most users a battery should last between 5 and 10 years. Batteries can be returned to your authorised Horwin dealer for recycling at end of life.

AN IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT RANGE.
Maximum range as declared is using a rider of 75kG at a steady 45kph. Real world range will differ depending upon terrain, riding style, rider weight and load and riding conditions and is likely to be less.
Limited 2 Year Warranty
All Horwin scooters and motorcycles come with a Limited 2 Year, 10,000 kilometre Warranty (whichever comes first).
The warranty covers protection from failure for 2 years on all major components; Frame, motor, battery, Battery Management System (BMS), while all other components carry a 12 month warranty protecting you from manufacturing defects.
LED Lights
The headlamps are fitted with three LED lamps. Their bright white light allows them to cut through the darkness. An automatic switch-off delay function when the lights are turned off illuminates the way to the garage or front door before you dismount.
The EK1 also sports automatic daytime running lights to enhance your safety, especially on rainy and foggy days. This provides better visibility for all.

Parked on a hill or a tricky spot. The R – Reverse Power mode can easily help you move the vehicle.
